First and foremost let me address mr. mcewan.
It’s really nice that you want to defend your friend and you use extreme leftism as your weapon of choice but what your friend is quoted as saying is not about his beliefs about Islam it is his blatant racism and intolerance of the way a person looks. what he’s saying, “Mr. Amis has written that people who look as though they are from the Middle East should be strip-searched and possibly deported.” is kinda like saying, “Mr. Amis has written that people who look as though they are from Africa should be strip-searched and possibly deported.” or “Mr. Amis has written that people who look as though they are from Japan should be strip-searched and possibly deported.” if he had said either of those things there would be no doubt in anyone’s mind that he is a racist. but b/c we assume it’s about Islam you are saying it is ok b/c religion is so bad. well actually religion isn’t the problem here. the problem is religious extremes, which has EVERYTHING to do w/ how people are interpreting the religion. hell extreme atheists are religious extremists to me. i throw them in w/ all the other groups of people who don’t think anyone should think any differently from them. and therefore are wrong. wrong/right is bull shit. we know nothing of god, we know nothing of no god. and if someone wants to believe in either of those things it’s a basic human right to do so. but do it w/o judgement of what others choose to believe.
now, mr amis.
really? you are seriously going to sit there and say something so incredibly racist and intolerant like that? you do realize that that statement includes Christians and Jews right? also Buddhists and Hindus. b/c A LOT of people look as though they are from the mid east. also a lot of people that look like they are from the mid east have never actually BEEN to the mid east let alone lived there. so what are you saying? that any American citizen who looks like an Arab should be strip searched and deported? what if i were to say that about any old white men? would you stand for that? would you allow someone to treat you like a dog, the way you are saying these humans should be treated? fuck you! it’s not my extreme liberalism that’s saying that by the way, it’s the part of me that is disgusted by anyone who thinks that someone should be judged b/c of what they look like, or if you want to say it’s about religion, what they believe in.
I’d like to know why people let these things slip by so easily when it comes to religion. hatred is hatred no matter how you fucking cut it. just b/c it’s about religion doesn’t make it any less hateful. you don’t have to believe in Islam or Christianity or Buddhism, but you have to accept them. and yes extreme Islam is a scary thing, but so is extreme Christianity and extreme atheism, they are all intolerant of other people’s human right to free will.
I have nothing to add to that.
