I do know what they say about arguing on the internet, and yet i respond anyway

Originally, allgrownsup said this:

I thought the new Batman sucked.

There, I said it.

And, as is the way with the Internet, a lot of people took personal offense to it, calling her a cynic who can’t enjoy being entertained, among other things. To which she replyed thusly:

Oh man. When did tumblr people get so serious? I love how people on this site can and will get so emotionally invested in responding complete stranger’s random musings. I am so sorry I didn’t LOVE Batman as much as the rest of you, and even more sorry that I didn’t spend waste 30 minutes of my weekend sitting in front of my laptop writing a 10 paragraph diatribe justifying exactly why so that people I have never met could better understand the intricacies of how I felt about some big budget Hollywood movie. I probably should have done that instead of ride my bike around in the sunshine at the park yesterday. Oh well, lesson learned.

Now i certainly respect everyone’s right to their own opinion, but these days when the only thing cooler than being the first to say you love something is being the first to say you hate it, i personally can’t take  seriously any opinion that doesn’t go beyond “it was fucking awesome” or “it sucked”. That doesn’t mean you have to pen a 1000 word screed detailing your views, but a little explanation wouldn’t hurt, would it? I mean, i’m sure you don’t really care what a bunch of people on the Internet that you’ve never met think about you or your opinions, but putting them out there in the first place and then responding to the criticisims kinda shows the opposite.
