I do know what they say about arguing on the internet, and yet i respond anyway pt. 2

In response to my last post, adeandabet has this to say:

Those of us who didn’t think it was the best movie in the world have been shunned into silence.  It is funny that Tumblr community would care that much whether or not I or any other poster really liked “Dark Knight.”  It’s not some cult favorite that desperately needs attention to make sure it’s seen - its playing every hour at every theater in the known universe.

I posted an “eh” after I saw it and got a shitstorm for it.  These are from the same people that deride others for posting negatively (unless, apparently, it goes against their opinions, then let the negativity fly!).  So what!?  A few people didn’t like it, you know who did: EVERYONE ELSE.  Big deal. Move on. Isn’t our focus fixed on the “Watchmen” horizon already?

I guess my point was that because we’ve heard so much fan boy/girl love about it, i’d actually like to hear some different opinions on it. It’s just that the only ones i’ve seen so far either haven’t really given me much to go on or would seem more at home coming from a troll on some message board. Of course, i’m not naive. I know that even a well thought out argument that goes against prevailing opinion will probably be met with just as many “No, YOU suck” responses, but it also has a better chance of starting a real discussion, which is something I think the Internet could use a lot more of.
